New York – Sapa

As the microblogging platform seeks to improve the video sharing and viewing experience to compete with other social networks such as Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and YouTube, Twitter’s chief designer Andrea Conway announced on Friday the arrival of a set of new features related to watching videos on the platform.

According to the image attached to the tweet, the video player interface will be updated to add more options, compiling them into one easy-to-access menu.

The menu also includes options such as displaying subtitles or subtitles for a subtitled video, controlling the video playback speed by speeding up or slowing down the playback speed, in addition to the option to share the video through other apps, and the option to report offensive videos, according to the Arab portal for technical news.

Quality control option

There is also the option to download the video, which will save it directly in the storage memory of the device, without the need to use other applications or services to download videos from Twitter.

Conway said that users will get the option to control the quality of the video, and the “picture in picture” feature when playing the video on Twitter, as it can be displayed as a floating mini-window while continuing to scroll, instead of full screen, a feature approved by the owner of the Twitter company. Elon Musk even earlier.

Blue Twitter

It is worth noting that last year the Twitter platform launched the ability to share and watch long videos that take up the entire screen space, such as TikTok, and Reels videos on Instagram.

Subscribers to the paid “Twitter Blue” service previously got the benefit of uploading long videos of up to two hours, compared to 140 seconds for regular users, but Twitter still doesn’t support 4K video resolution like YouTube.
