An earthquake measuring 6.2 on the Richter scale occurred on Friday off the coast of Chiba, east of the Japanese capital, Tokyo.

The Japan Meteorological Agency reported on Friday that the earthquake occurred at 19:03 local time, at a depth of 50 km.

Authorities did not issue a tsunami warning after the earthquake struck off the coast of Kamiso in Chiba Prefecture, according to Anadolu Agency.

In addition to the residents of Chiba, residents of the capital Tokyo and neighboring prefectures also felt the earthquake.
