Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has become the main competitor of former President Donald Trump on the Republican nomination ticket for the US presidential elections.

DeSantis announced his candidacy for the White House elections, in order to lead the “great American return”, according to Al-Arabiya.net.

“I am running for president to lead the great American comeback,” he said in a video posted on his Twitter account.

DeSantis said he will hold a meeting with his major campaign donors at a Miami hotel, where they will immediately launch his fundraising efforts.

DeSantis’ main claim to the race is apparently the only Republican who can defeat Biden, who defeated Trump in the 2020 election.
